History of Language

Description

These free downloadable PDFs are for use during Schedule I. There are 3 files:

  1. Timeline folder to be printed on a file folder or 11×17 card stock that you fold in half.
  2. Timeline figures to be laminated and cut out, then Velcro dots attached to with one part on the timeline folder and the other on the figure (see picture).
  3. History of language booklet that is large enough for a therapist to use from a phone or iPad, or that can be printed to make a book. The figures match the timeline figures. The booklet was researched by Melissa McMahan, Ph.D., with references in the back to the texts used.

Why is this free? The images come from www.phillipmartin.com and specifically state: “My clip art on this website is Free for teachers to use in their classrooms for student worksheets, on blogs and school websites, and other NON-COMMERCIAL uses”. This material is just that: for use in the teacher’s classroom.

The original idea for the folder came from a student project by an unknown therapist in training. This project was designed to help the therapist have a ready-to-use and researched booklet for the history of the English language with manipulatives, and a visual overall grasp of the timeline of the development of the English language.
